University of Detroit Mercy was founded in 1877. For 18 consecutive years, Detroit Mercy has been ranked as a top-tier university in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" annual editions. This year, based on changes instituted by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, Detroit Mercy is now ranked with the top national universities. University of Detroit Mercy also ranks NO. 45，in Best Value Schools in the National Universities category.
